A Modified Radon Fourier Transform for GNSS-Based Bistatic Radar Target Detection

The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-based passive bistatic radar (PBR) which uses the GNSS signal as illuminators of opportunity is studied for moving target detection (MTD). GNSS-based PBR has many advantages due to removal transmitting device; however, its fundamental limitation low power density signal. Therefore, integration time should be sufficiently long obtain a promising maximum detectable range. On other hand, limited by range migration and Doppler echo caused motion. In this letter, novel MTD algorithm proposed PBR, employing modified radon Fourier transform (MRFT) achieve required long-time targets. MRFT integrates energy via joint searching range, Doppler, rate target, can handle not only but also problems, significantly improves signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) An experiment using GPS L5 illumination source conducted car successfully detected algorithm, although significant are present variation speed.
